............................About Us

China Wok Restaurant was started by Chef Peter Lu and wife Mary in 1992. The young couple took over what was then a counter-ordering, self-service Chinese eatery and converted it into a small sit down restaurant. Through their hard work and by providing consistently fresh, robustly flavored Chinese food, served with warm hospitality, the business grew; and the restaurant quickly became a favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant with dine in, take out and free-delivery.

In 1995, the restaurant was written up in the local newspaper. In an article entitled, "The Secret is in the Sauces", then Free Lance Star food critic Sylvia Hopkins wrote an energetic and favorable review of the restaurant, praising the well balanced flavor of the food. And in that same year, Chef Lu won the first place in Rapahannock Area Kids on the Block Chef's Competition sponsored by the local United Way.

In March, 2002, the present owner Mr. Joe Yung bought the business from the Lu's. In an effort to grow the business and with a desire to add value to the neighborhood, Mr.Yung started building a brand new restaurant in the vacant space next to the old one in early 2005. In September, 2005, China Wok Restaurant began its operation in the larger space next to the old one; The new restaurant feature a modern, stainless steel walled kitchen, and a pleasant, Asia- inspired dining room with mahogany table tops and comfortable chairs and booths. Inside the oak countered bar, two TV hung from the wall for customer's enjoyment. In early 2006, the menu was expanded to include a full and varied assortment of freshly-made sushi for dining in, take out and delivery. Since the move to the new location, the business has grown steadily, becoming well known and well liked by both loyal regulars and new neighbors, too.

China Wok is proud to be a part of the local community and strives to provide the best Chinese food and sushi. Joe Yung and staff are equally proud and happy that, over the years, China Wok has actively supported local community programs such as the Partnership for Excellence in Education Program, Spotsylvania Rescue Squad, and the local police seatbelt program.
